Latin America, between Identity or a Sense of Belonging: Towards a Deconstruction of the Ontology of Ignorance in the Onto-Technological Era

Abstract

Today, we live in times of cultural hybridization among the distinct and unrepeatable actors of our world. The internet, in association with other mass media, has achieved an era of globalization—not only at the level of consumption, but in human relations and knowledge—surpassing the geographical boundaries where we are physically immersed. From this ground, a person's formative possibilities grow by taking one of the multiple paths offered by our onto-technological era, which can entail diverse consequences stemming from self-alienation, fetishization, and estrangement. On the other hand, the question arises as to how those who lack access to these networks are treated in this technological threshold; that is, the question emerges at an ethical and ontological level. Based on the foregoing, this article aims to explore the forms of identification and the sense of belonging among Latin American peoples. The latter will involve a key discussion in this text regarding the implications of the sense of belonging as a concept, contrasted with the idea of identity.
